Panelists

James Borkowski

James Borkowski serves as the Archbishop’s Delegate for Operations, working with parishes and ministries throughout the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver. During this time, he has also worked on addressing clergy sexual abuse, Indigenous reconciliation, and dialogue with the White Rock Pride Society. Most importantly, James has been happily married to his wife Lucia and they are the proud parents of seven children.

Father Bryan Duggan

Fr. Bryan was raised in Burnaby and ordained a priest for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver in 2011. He served five years in various pastoral roles including parish, young adults, and vocations before obtaining a doctorate in clinical psychology. He is a registered psychologist in BC, and his experience includes community mental health, seminary, and group practice settings where he works with clients of diverse cultural and sexual/gender identities.

Ernie Klassen

Ernie Klassen is one of the founding members and President of the White Rock Pride Society. He grew up in a very religious conservative Mennonite family where the church was the central component of his formative years. Ernie is a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, businessperson, and City Councillor. One of his proudest recognitions through his campaign was being called an advocate.

Viisha P. Souza

She is a licensed minister in the National Baptist tradition and holds a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Janice helped guide St. John's United Church in Sechelt and Peninsula United Church in South Surrey/White Rock through a process of education and discernment to become 'Affirming Ministries', committed to the full inclusion and honouring of all people. Now retired, Janice continues to live in South Surrey with her husband and cat.

Susy Tucker

Susy Tucker is one of the earliest board members of the White Rock Pride Society. She has lived, worked, and raised a family in this beautiful community for the past 24 years. In 2019, she became a part of the team that helped resolve a human rights complaint against the Catholic Church for denying rental to their local community centre. Susy is proud to celebrate the coming together and cooperation of this event as we strive to create harmony and understanding.
